YSS was absolutely thrilled that HRH The Princess Royal, YSS’s patron, was the key note speaker at YSS’s 30th Celebration event on 3 October 2016 at Sixways, Worcester. The celebration event was for staff, trustees, stakeholders and representatives of volunteers and service users.
YSS started in 1986 initially as a multi-agency project called the ISS (Intensive Support Scheme) hosted under the umbrella of the Worcester Diocesan Board for Social responsibility with a management board consisting of Social Services, Youth Services, Education, Probation, Police and local Magistrates. ISS started delivering an intensive support programme called Specified Activity requirements that was part of court orders for 14 – 17 year olds across Worcestershire and Herefordshire, providing motivational one to one support and liaising with statutory agencies on behalf of the young person and their families where appropriate.
YSS currently operates 16 projects across West Mercia and Warwickshire. It is now an independent charity with over 30 years experience of providing community based support services for children, young people, adults and families who are vulnerable, have complex needs and who face difficult life challenges.
